i was drowning in sorrow
searching for redemption gems
my lungs aching for breath
i wanted to give up, give in to the darkness below
it was then that i saw you, a deep blue light
i had longed for this moment

my forbidden sapphire, would you rescue me?

i sank to the bottom of the cold, dark, deep
digging to free you from the murky waters
how i wanted to keep you, but i knew i could not
i was unable to grasp you and keep you as my own
so i left you buried there for another to find
and i kicked back to the surface, gasping for air

and you breathed little poetess

found a rough cut diamond, as I recall.

Beautiful. I see you with your hair twirling in the sorrowful deep water..

...sometimes all we can do is leave another to his/her own happiness.  You capture the struggle well in what it takes to let go and live.

You didn't need the sapphire, afterall! You made it all the way up to the surface on your own!

The beauty is for all to see and free ... and you discovered it just in time to surface with your own real power.

Very captivating write.
