I left a ribbon for you. For your finger.
You can put it around your pinky.
Or your index finger.
I’ll leave that up to you.
I left it on your night stand.
Or maybe it was on your desk.
I don’t really remember…
My memory never was too sharp for details.
Maybe it’s chronic.
Or maybe it’s a problem of lack of focus…
My mind always has been one for wandering…

Anyway.
The point is that distance often plagues us.
I do this and you do that and I miss you.
There’s no distance with love and affection and such…
But that’s all intangible stuff.
That’s where the ribbon comes in.
A tangible representation of the intangible.
Get it?
Wear it on your finger.
I hope it continues to find you well.
And maybe occasionally makes you smile.
Wear it boldly despite stares.
Their glances are fleeting.
And jealousy is undeniably inevitable; inevitably so.
They’ll get over it.
Keep it tightly to your skin.
Unfazed by sweat or any daily movements.
Always there, always close, always tight.
Calm and calming.
Tranquilly peaceful.
Granted, it’s only a symbol.
Only a reminder.
So it can’t do much more than remind.
If it’s cold tonight, it won’t do much for keeping your warm.
But maybe it can distract you.
At least long enough that you can fall asleep.
I’ll call you in the morning.
Wear the ribbon until then.
And I’ll call you in the morning.

~ and your second pip poetic post, is a hit in my books as well as your first! Gosh, I really like your style. It is authentic and real.

Hmm, that's a great idea you have there about her wearing that little rainbow reminder around her finger!
