.

you are, little one

miracle gift life

everything done
in ways just right
God’s hands to me…

treasure box memories
barney and friends
endless rounds of
goodnight moon and
find the jumping cow…

that Christmas when
you hung five ornaments
on the same branch
and i left them there…
and took a picture

your cape and mask
superman, batman
and other made up heroes
that always somehow
gave me strength…

the endless critters that
ended up ‘neath our tree
hamster, hermit crab
tarantula and lizard…
so i bought you a dog

you were peter criss
for halloween when
your favorite song was
detroit rock city
already way too cool…

those winter bedtime
harry potter chapters
we laughed hysterically
when dobby ironed his hands
remember…i do…

.
.
.

now…you are just
these many memories
brown~eyed boy
as you go off to learn
man lessons I can’t teach

dad will show you
how to shave and there
will be driving lessons
dances and dates
high school this year…

.

but i gave you conscience
and i showed you heartfelt
i made you respect women
and be a friend to have one
and to give of your time…

.

now... fourteen and I
can only get a hold of you
by text or my space
i leave messages anyway
i don’t mind waiting…

now…you are ipod
cell phone and wii
cornerstone concerts
and first~place royal
blue art ribbons…

now…you are electric
and acoustic guitar
my most favorite moments
when you play for me unasked…
because you know i love it…

always…i keep these
treasure box memories
scrap~booked heart happenings
because you’re the best thing
that’s ever happened to me…

and so, i set you free
because that’s how i love you
unconditionally, so
spread your wings
beautiful soul butterfly

because i know you do
you will, always
come back to me

miracle gift life

you are, my little one.

.

i'm sure he would not agree with the 'dream mom' part, but i know that he knows i love him fiercely...he and i were on our own for 8 years and he was always first priority.  i always encouraged his passion for art and beauty and knowledge and took great interest in shaping him to be a kind soul...and that he is

Aw Shel

I know the son shine that you speak of, having two critters of that very flavor.

Keeping this.

There aren't many that bring tears to my eyes...but this is one.

One of the best I have read, hands down...and you have a very lucky son

Shellie, a thank you for sharing your thoughts about your son. Yes it would bring tears to many and most of all your son.

As birds are given wings to fly and soar
As high as needed to survive,
So sons are given heart and nerve
To answer callings, so they may thrive.
