I admired you with your mostly proper on
all ladylike and carefully in the right boxes
but I loved you even more without it
when the woman of you was more nearly reckless

and you just messed up your own hair sometimes
while you danced with the crazy lady mirror
and you said bad words too just to let them out
before you turned and climbed the tree of me

and asked if I thought your feet were funny
how they could not stay still when we talked
and did it bother me to see you lose your place
and have to want to start all over again

when we were practicing kiss music and love hands
and when all of those perfect moments fell over
into a heap of people being people together
with no agenda except to make new memories again

no matter how long it took, we would take longer

Sometimes it is good to be a slow learner and flunk a grade or two.  How can you make me smile so early in the morning?  I want the book!

You call it ladydance series, but what truly dances here is your mind, dear D.!

Love,
