                  The Apple Tree
                    By Billie (age 16)

THere's initials carved in the appletree.
Of the one I love and the name of me.
               I put them there today.
As the evening sun grew red.
I had to put them somewhere
For they were dancing through my head.

              When the leaves come out,
              And the blossoms bright,
They will make a wreath about it
              In the bright sun light.

              When the tree grows older
And the lines began to spread
My love will widen with it
As though God Himself had said.

When the merry days of youth
                 Have flown beyond.
And we are old and wore,
This youthful boy that I now love
               I then will still adore.

              **********************

                   looking back.
                 on my first love.

hello Billie, this is delicate and charming, the first love is so innocent that I don't know if it is really something we can call love, it is magnificent, the heart beats, the look is hynotized and so on...I remember too having carved the name of a girl in a tree, it was not a cherished apple tree (may be yes) but it was outside time consideration...Thanks for the touching poem.

Your words at the tender age of 16, were like the blossoms on an apple tree. ~ Fragrant, delicate, beautiful ~ and sweet.

I too carved initials of a sweetheart,in a tree. After we broke up, I chopped the tree down and burned it.  REALLY!!!

Do you ever wonder about that tree?
Is it still there?
Wouldn't that be cool.

Wonderful poem,
Tracey.

So sweet, Billie.  And, Tracey, I love your story too.  I had to laugh.
