The Good, The Bad, The Prayer

The Good –
is the nine-pound,
one and half ounce baby boy,
Brayden James Beard,
born to my son and his wife
Saturday July 11, 2009 . . .
on my wife's birthday.
The Good –
now we both have grand-children
born on our birthdays.
Me a girl, first born of my daughter,
her a boy, first born of my son.

The Bad –
Transposed Great Veins.
His Aorta and his Pulmonary Artery,
the plumbing to his heart somehow . . .
somehow. . . got mixed up, reversed,
like red and blue hoses
attached to wrong faucets;
the plumber was color blind,
not watching what he was doing. . .
I thought he was better than that;
anger talking. . .
hurt – talking.
The Bad –
Open heart surgery... very soon;
fix them, make them right,
and not yet a week old . . .
Thank God for the surgeon's hands.

The Prayer – (I'm asking now...)

In my heart I know, believe,
at least – hope,
everyone has faith
in something greater than
birth,
unltimately, only, death.
So I ask each of you to offer up whatever corresponds
to what some of us call
Prayer,
to what ever you believe,
believe in,
for Brayen’s continued,
and long journey
in Life.
And while there,
pray for all the other babies who have,
had,
or will have to cross,
mountains . . .
before they can walk in valleys.
~~~
Thank you
from all I am
for whatever
your hearts can give.
Jimmy Beard
====================================================          Surgical update #1
Brayden went to surgery about 4pm CST, and a few minutes ago, about 9:50 was sent to the intensive care ward where the next 12 hours will be critical. Abbie & Justin haven't seen him yet, or spoken with the doctor, but all comments are everything was fixed and he did very well... more as I get it.
If you feel the urge to drop them a Howdy...please do so at:
aggie05@charter.net  (Abbie, Justin & Brayden Beard).
And again, thanks for your hearts, my friends.
Jimmy
Yo Jwesley,
Good luck to all concerned.  I'm sure that things will work out for the best.  I'm told that I almost didn't make it either, and here I am 72, going on 150.
My prayers and thoughts are with you.
My cousin had the same thing so I kinda know what your going through, though I was really young at the time.
Its hard but just remember god has a plan for everything.
Thinking  of you Jimmy and your family and keeping the prayers for the little one. I have a best friend whose son is now 34 and was born with a heart problem. He went through a few operations until adulthood and today is over 6 ft tall, handsome and living a  good life with no complications.
You know, an interesting aspect to this is that Justin & Abbie moved to the Riverside area of California about 2 years ago specifically to open a Chick-fil-a.
Now they could have done this almost anywhere in the country, but Riverside was the location they needed to go (both are dyed-in-the-wool Texans).
Two years later they have their first baby, the baby needs one of the most difficult heart surgies on babies there is and where are they...Loma Linda Universtiy Hospital -- arguably the leading infant heart surgery center in the U.S.
Tell me there isn't a "greater plan" to life.
Surgery is at 2pm today Pacific time - 5 to 6 hours long normally, with a 90 percent success rate.
Jimmy, that is good news, that the baby will be having the surgery today at Loma Linda. It's a very fine hospital with an outstanding track record.
I know someone whose 2 month premature baby required surgery, and it was done there. She weighed under 3 lbs, but survived and was thriving a year later.
James that is a very rare condition and it shows that Braydon is a very special little boy! I believe he will survive this challenge and his constitution made stronger by these struggles. May he be made whole and live to radiate his Light in this world ~ as his grandfather has been doing.
I believe that all will be well with your precious bundle of baby boy joy.
God bless you all,
My thoughts and prayers will continue,
Love & healing Light,
Linda
Looking forward to wonderful news, James.
Indeed, the Plans that we are not aware of
are often the surprises least expected...
And I'm expecting good news...
because sometimes He gives us these very lessons
so that we may be grateful for all we've learned...
including the education of our physicians...
Been a little over 24-hours now - still in ICU but they say he is doing very well...nurses told my son that he was 'feisty' and 'keeps trying to pull the tubes out . . . and that's a good sign'. They say he's not showing any adverse signs to the surgery. His color is good and they say if he keeps on like he is Abbie can try breast feeding him on Sunday (major milestone) and he may go home sometime next week - depending on when they take him off all the 'tubes'.
Sounds wonderful so far...again, major thanks for your prayers.
Dear jwesley;
     If you can take the time, go back into the Archives of the 44 forums and find a poem titled "The Surgeon" the last line says it all "Gods Spirit guides the Sureons hand."
Giving grace for little Brayden's perfeclty restored physical health conditions.
I am certain that the Angels are supervising every step of this adventure.
There is a wonderful flow of divine energy here and it surrounds and permeates little Brayden beautifully.
Love and hugs, grandpa.
I haven't been around to post for a while... but I read about and prayed for your grandson... I'm so glad he's doing home!
This is absolutely beautiful, Jimmy... One of these days, he's going to read it... and know how very much he's loved... though I'm sure he'll know that anyway! *S*
Brayden is doing very, very well! He's a month and a day old now, is off of oxygen and had his first follow visit with the surgeon and the peditrician and both say he's doing absolutely wonderful.  Justin and Abbie say he eats like he's starving. He had lost a couple pounds by the time he left the hospital but on the visit (above) he had actually gained a pound (was 9-1 when born).  Seems to have no ill affects to the surgery, and is acting just like every baby -not letting his parents get a full nights sleep!!  I have a few pictures but don't know how to show them. Guess if you're interested in seeing any you could email me at jwesley63@mail.yellowstone.net and I can send you a couple.
Our family thanks each of you for your thoughts and your prayers.
