the clever clover
clinging cover
mocked my tears
mixed with buttercups

the thinking thistle
listened, whistled,
warning me to
head back home

the lilac liars
all accused me
accordingly of
crescent crimes

the pious peonies
blushing bashfully
lifted their leaves
to their throats

the deviant daffodils
called casually
dangerously
‘chivalry is dead’

black~eyed~susans
smiled secretly
with their one~eyed
worried winking

while the tulips
kissed
my two lips
in good~bye lover lore

and my waking
windflower
wary, weary
wept for you…

Oh Shellie, I love this! Each flower realy does have its own joie de vivre, its peculiar personality.
Great playful imagery!

This is absolutely gorgeous, a beautiful tongue twister written in the most appreciative way.  Dawn is for sure the hour of poetry !

Yes, Shellie...this is awesome. I am a sucker for alliteration too. lol

Is this a new one?

Anything that has deviant daffodils in it has me hooked.

Great poem.

Chivalry is alive and well.

I have proof.

Seems like you and I have so much in common,
on how we understand and feel about life!

When I read your poetry their is such an understanding there, as if I am reading myself...

I feel you girl!

I never met a flower I didn't like! They each have their own individual personality, do they not?

This was a delightful read, SS!

The dirty dandelions
told me many lies
about their secret exploits
as violent Russian spies

Don't you think dandelions should be included. They love us so much that they come to greet us without our even asking them to. Love your poem! You are quite talented!

How about if I just say that I enjoyed this so much  -  the title says it all and is perfect.  I love the flowers and expansion of their personalities.  Guess I already said more than I meant to.
