Well, here it is November.
The rain is cold.
I'm on that road
that leads to
God Knows Where.

On my shoulders
there's a heavy load,
that sits above my neck
and 'neath my hair.

No one is stopping.
They just blast their horn.
Fly by and spray
cold water in my face.

It's Election Day
and they've gotta hurry on,
to vote and make this
world a better place

A bunch of beeping Honkies,
with their motorized donkeys.

These jackasses just keep on zooming by.

I'm going nowhere
and I'd kinda like to get there.

I wonder...could I catch a hearse...
...if I lay down and die ?

My boots are holy.
It's a crying sin.

Another mile...
and I'll be walkin' on a bone.

They don't seem to care
about the shape I'm in.

These beep beep beeps
just keep on honkin' on.

Now, the clouds are parting.
The sun is going down.
My dogs have started
howling at the moon.

I'd like a dry place
to lay my body down
and my tongue sure would
love to taste a spoon.

But, that aint
likely to happen
and my boots
just keep on flappin'.
I jump the ditch
and pray my soul to keep.

Up in the treeline's
where I'm at,
with my eyes closed
'neath my hat
and them horns
just keep on honkin'
in my sleep

A bunch of beeping Honkies,
with their motorized donkeys.

These jackasses just keep on zooming by.

I'm going nowhere
and I'd kinda like to get there.

I wonder...could I catch a hearse...
...if I lay down and die ?

My boots are holy.
It's a crying sin.

Another mile...
and I'll be walkin' on a bone.

They don't seem to care
about the shape I'm in.

These beep beep beeps
just keep on honkin' on.

Loved it my friend. anyone who has done any long walking at all can relate thats for sure. I like poems with simple truths and this one like me too.
One critique tho. You set the tone early with this one, and it works good but I think you held the note a little to long.
My 2 cents for your great write

I totally get your sense of humor (probably because my father's family was from your neck of the woods) and I always enjoy your unique style.
