An Age Limit

Even though no words are said
I get the message, loud and clear
It matters not the age, I thought
To have a friend so dear

There are no limits to age I think
When it comes to real friendship
It hurts my heart when I recall
To be a friend, I just did not fit

I freely gave my friendship to you
To only find an age limit on yours
This heart was truly broken then and
The tears just started to pour

I did not know there was an age limit
But, once again I didn’t fit in

Silly, and uninteresting people like that aren't worth wasting time on.

Oklahoma Rose - one doesn't need a friend that puts a limit on you. A friend only in words, not with a heart...

Dear Sue, it hurts, but here it is really the case to say that he did not deserve the precious jewel you are! He obviously is limited in some other area than age ...

Well rendered frustration.

Love and hugs.

speaking of age limits, Sue, some people just never mature no matter the age and never understood what true friendship means.

Bobby, that is just what I was thinking.

Bill, For some reason, I felt a closeness to this person. But, the words she said to me still play and replay in my head. Rarely ever does she repond to my emails or messages I send her. And, that
hurts. Yet, she has claimed to be a friend.

Linda, my sweet canadian friend. You are a friend, indeed. We've shared alot, you and I.

Margherita, I don't know, that I am a jewel. Atleast, I don't feel like one. But, it is kind of you to say so.

Roniece, In case you don't know it, you have always been one of my most favorite people here at Pip. It makes my heart happy to know, that I fit in just fine with you.

Maureen, you and I have been friends for a very long time. Ever since I first joined pip. You have a special place inside my heart, and there you will always be. Through the good times and the bad times, you have always been there. And, I have always tried to be there for you, as well. You are a most treasured friend.

Johan, thank you for your kind reply. I am glad you like my poetry.

Heart2Heart, in case you don't know, you do have my friendship. Thank you for your kind comment on my poem. Im not really that much younger, than she is. But, she seems to have a hangup about the age. I will never forget those words she said to me. I guess, because it really hurt, when she said them. And, she has shown, themto be true, many times. Why, I continued trying to be her friend, is beyond me. I haven't yet figured out the why of it.

Brneyedgrly, thank you for your kind reply.

I guess the question is - do you want to fit.  I am sure that you would fit better with a less shallow person.  Age is nothing - heart is everything.  Maybe there's not enough heart around you to share yours.

You have a beautiful one.

Alison

1slick_lady, thank you very much. I gladly accept your friendship. Unconditional friendship is the only kind I have to give. Your friendship is always welcomed.

Alison, my dear friend. You are a sweetheart. And, I am so glad we are friends.
I've thought it over quite a bit, though, and I've had a change of heart, where she is concerned.
Thank you for your kind reply.

Friendship is a meeting of the minds. Perhaps she just didn't have much to offer.

With the 'change of heart' you mentioned, are you two re-connected as friends?
Age should never make any difference in developing and maintaining friendships.
Anyone who makes age an issue isn't really a true friend.
You'll always be my friend, Sue, even if you should discover the fountain of youth and leave me turning to rust!

Marchmadness, I don't know what the reason is. Whatever the reason, it hurt just the same.

Hope, I remember. And, you and I go way back, don't we.

Midnitesun, awwww, you are one of my most treasured friends (in case you don't know). I would never leave you turning to rust! You are right here inside my heart with all the rest. And there, you will always be. As for the one this poem is about, I will always be her friend, but I don't know that she feels the same about me. I'M TOO YOUNG I THINK. (but I'm not that young.)

Sue, she is missing out on the continued joys of having you as a friend. Sweetie, please try to not take it personally. I think she is in a place where she has nothing to offer. Treasure the memories you have with her and carry on ~ which, I know, you are doing. God bless you. You are loved ~ as is apparent by all of your friends comments in these heart-warming replies. Gosh, I love this place! ~ and you!

Just because of an age limit? Wow...that sucks.

I know my age is showing me the way to
bed earlier and earlier every night...
but I still try to respond to my emails
as I can...

even though I'm tecnically [according to
some]...over the hill.

Good poem, dear. And look at all of the friends
who have responded!

You're loved.

Earth Angel, you are probably right. And, you know, I do treasure those memories. There will always be a place in my heart for heart. That is where I keep her. I miss those times we spent online together. But, evidently, she doesn't. If she ever needs me, I will be there. Yes, I love this palce, too. I have many treasured friends here. Even those, who I no longer see are right here inside this heart of mine. They will always be there.

Sunshine, I hope you know that you are one of those most treasured friends, I hold dear to my heart. You have helped me, more than you know. I will always be greatful for that. I think of you often. And, I miss those emails. Thank you for all you have done. And, for all those encouraging words. I hope all is good with you. I loveya, my friend.

Love and friendship do not recognize age or the color of your hair or the sweater you are wearing. A true friend sees who you truly are, and any one who cannot look deeper than your face does not really know the meaning of true friendship. You, on the other hand, have a great capacity to love and that is what I see in you
I like it when you spill your heart onto the page. That is whay makes a poem truly great

Hi Oklahoma!

I liked your poem a lot.  Maybe your friend isn't too good with Math!  There really isn't much difference in numbers between 1 and 100, if we think about that small numerical value of years compared to those that exist in infinity!  In one year of age or 100 years of age,  ALL  possibilities for love and friendship are there!  Your unfortunate friend--could a math tutor would be in order?  or maybe, even better, a little maturity...

The Quality of Age, like numbers, can be astronomical, as I feel you already know!  I wish you well in dealing with her significant overslight.  From all your responses, I gather you have lots of friends who admire you here.

My dear Sue,
Don't know how old you are, but I know for sure that you'll fit in at any age.

I never understood what some people have with age. Age is just an abstract number, it's how you feel inside that will make you old or young.

Mommy Muys will be 98 next month and she still acts like she's 20 sometimes.

Don't put energy in someone who's counting numbers and won't appriciate you for what you really are: a beautiful, strong minded woman, whom I'm proud of to call my friend.

Titia
