A World of Flowers
by Linda L. Dowd

I rose from bed each morning glory,
With daisies fresh on window sill.
The sun does flower rods so golden,
While bluebells ring in hush of still.

Lilacs lush in gay profusion,
Fill the air with sweet perfume.
Dragons snapping with affection,
At garden flowers as they bloom.

Carnations blossom in every colour,
Their fragrance fills my room with love.
Cascading fuscia hang from baskets,
From porch rafters up above.

Clematis climb the white-washed trellis,
Wrapping it with purple vine.
Beyond the fence lie fields of daisies,
Fresh and bright in world divine.

Sweet alyssum line the driveway,
Azaleas bloom all year ‘round.
Hyacinths in all their glory,
Rise each spring from sleeping ground.

Tulips kiss me wake each morning,
Pansy smiles greet me each day.
Daffodils in sunshine yellows,
Get me on my sunny way.

Lilies white, lay in the valley,
Hollyhocks touch skies of blue.
My world is one of glorious flowers,
From rise of sun ‘til evening dew

Flowers from a painter’s palette,
Bless my life with heaven hues.
Riotous blooms in all their glory,
Perfume the air with sweet infuse.

I rose from bed each morning glory,
With daisies fresh on window sill.
The sun does flower rods so golden,
While bluebells ring in hush of still.

Mysteria ~

Hi, Sharon! What a lovely response! Thank you! ~ and the curious thing is that as I was posting this poem, I was thinking of our flower girl Martie 'Flowers' and that she might appreciate this one.

May your every day be as sweet and as beautiful as flowers!

Well now, isn't this just my type of poetry, incredibly delightful and so beautifully penned in a style I love myself.  The beauty of nature never stops to amaze me, and your lovely words are breathtakingly gorgeous.  Thanks for sharing this enchanting poem with us all Earth Angel.

PS:  I've been looking for a flower called "Summer Snow", a type of clematis but am not able to find it, perhaps you have it where you are, if so, I would be ever so grateful to receive any information you have so I can order it.

Beautiful and charming flower Angel, I am so happy and honored that you put me on your window sill!

This is pure delight, my dear. Your words do justice to the world of flowers. A true explosion of beauty, serenity and fragrances. Just wish to be there with you to enjoy these magnificent gifts of Nature.

You might want to send this to Joyce Johnson too ... flowers are one of her hobbies too.

Love and hugs.

Dear Daisy Dolphina ~

Margherita, so you're the daisies on my window sill! That's why they last all year 'round and have such a beautiful bouquet ~ and they light up my room at night with such a radiant Light!

Thank you for delightfully floral mots. They were very sweet.

I also appreciate you suggesting that I send the link to this post to Joyce Johnson ~ which I have now done in a reply to her birthday post in Announcements.

My dear Bill, for you I have now changed the opening line from "I rise each morning" to "I rose each morning" ~ which is how I had originally written it but decided against it because the tense was wrong. But what the heck! The rose has its rightful place in this poem about a world of flowers!

To love and roses!

Dear Linda.  This is truly lovley.  Thank you so much.  I have been ear deep in flowers is the reason I have been slow in even finding my own birthday greetings.  Our district is putting on a big flower show and I am the superintendent which means a lot of details.  It is in two weeks and non-stop until after that.  I have my flowers to watch and my prayers to pray that they will be blooming at the right time and encouragement to spread around to the new gardeners. Your garden must be delightful and of course the same goes for your poetry.  Love, Joyce

My goodness! You certainly have been busy! Being superintendent of a big flower show is impressive ~ and surely a labour of love for a flower lover such as yourself. I think flowers can keep us young ~ like the Fountain of Youth! They sure work that way for you!!!

I'm so pleased that you enjoyed my posey poem. It was a pleasure writing it. My garden at my previous house was rather impressive and I miss it. It will take time to build up the gardens in this new one. Thank you for your warm response and your kind words.

My thoughts will be with you! Enjoy!
