Always getting there,
Fair and far,
Close but never quite.
Are we there yet?
The good part of life?
Soon, always soon we say,
Just have to...
Only just...
One more hoop to jump through.
One more terrible task
And then it's done.
One more, it's not the last,
Only we should be there now.

If only...
Only if...
Then we'll have it.
Then it's ours.
Then we'll reach those elusive stars
Still as far as they were before.
Infinite and far.
One day we'll be there we say,
But which one and when?
Will we know it when it's done?
And will it ever end?
Of course, of course,
We Just have to...
And then...

Hey Alan,

Are we there yet?

I hope not as I enjoy the getting there too much.  I am not ready to reach my destination.

Thank you for sharing your poem.

Indeed, many people focus so much on the future that they forget about right now. That is the sentiment I wished to convey. Thanks for your reply.
