Riding The Water

I have been running
a garden labyrinth
to just another dead end
retracing my grassy steps
worn thin to dirt
drowning in loneliness
when inside me
a dam broke
starting as a drop
as brief as it was
captured moments
encasing a lifetime
and life tumbled out
of somewhere secret
a warm liquid comfort
not too sure where
my path may take
these feet I wear
but I can face
the waves of fear
for a river flows through me
and as lonely as you can be
I am never alone

"I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish and I'm sad."
— Joni Mitchell

1slick_lady,

"when inside me
a dam broke
starting as a drop
as brief as it was
captured moments
encasing a lifetime
and life tumbled out"

Our life is supposed to flow into the soul,
and soul to soul, that river of life keeps
us in the spirit stream, life seeks to continue naturally like rivers to the ocean,

so much enjoyed your wonderful words,

You know, Helen, some poems just kind of wrap around me.  They evoke memories and feelings.  This is one such poem.

Helen, you are the best at writing naturally graceful and flowing stream-of-thought poetry. This poem is quite beautiful.
