It got everywhere
in everything
most of it lay on the ground
an angry red scab on the earth
where nothing cared to grow

Clouds of it hung in the air
like a musty coffin pall

In Oklahoma you breath dirt
when the sky rains
it rains mud
when it doesn’t
the wind whips it into your skin
turning dust
into hungry needles

It gets in your eyes
you nose
your mouth
coating your teeth in grit
rubbing your throat raw and
shrink-wrapping your voice
in gravel

It gets everywhere

You certainly made that clear, I think I must go and have a shower to wash all this dust off ...

Remarkable write.

Well done.  Reminded me of the soot from massive forest fires, fall out from volcanic ash... The destructiveness we pump into our own atmosphere.  A grave and dire look into a future, that we add our own signature to.  Thought provoking write.

I remember dust storms in New Mexico when I was small and I think this descibes them vividly.
