So you would hear a tale, my friend?
If such is your desire…
A tale of other times and place-
Then sit here by my fire.
And what is it that you would hear?
Of days of knights and knaves?
When fortune, fame, and maiden fair…
Were waiting for the brave?
Or mayhap you would have me tell…
Of love affairs and war?
Of poets, scholars, men-at-arms-
And many lay in store.
And how came I to know them all?
I thought you understood…
I lived the stories that I spin-
I have immortal blood.
And battles? Aye! And victories-
And lasses, golden haired-
And cities which we put to sack…
And places which we spared.
The golden beaches of the isles-
And stormy, deadly straits….
We roving men have seen them all,
And knocked at Hades' gates.
Aye! Speak I will, though welcomed not.
And many on me rail…
I'll peer again through mists o time
And spin a Traveler's Tale.

Another believer here. My brother has told me of similar visions of battles fought under a Scottish banner.
