When I lie in bed at night
I dream I am far away
On a crystal road by candlelight
Where the stars shine night and day

If some good fairy would cast a spell
And give me wings to fly
I would go to look for beautiful things
Where the crystal road meets the sky

On either side the meadows lie
Silver sparkled and dewy green
And far in the distance way up high
The moon smiles down on the scene

The forest grows on either hand
Sparkling and lush and green
And the road runs on to the magic land
Through a wonderful place inbetween

I flutter on wings of gossamer rose
Across skies of powder blue
And see all sorts of beautiful things
Amidst the twilight drops of dew

Tiny white lanterns bright above
Cast their rays on sapphire streams
And a handsome knight waves his hand to me
On my road to the Land of Dreams

Amethyst castles with spires so tall
Shine gold in the evening's blush
And the little flowers nod sleepy heads
In the breeze of the soft evening hush

I am sure that I'll be called back here
Along meadows of starry beams
On the crystal road in the candlelight
To that magic Land of Dreams

Dear Katriona, oh if only dreams were always as magical as you describe them here! I love the crystal road you use ... it reverberates everything so beautifully.

A joy to read ... just so timely again!

Love,
Margherita

This:
On a crystal road by candlelight
Where the stars shine night and day
And This:
I would go to look for beautiful things
Where the crystal road meets the sky

were my favorite lines in a poem chock full of memorable lines.

Katriona? Is that a traditional Scottish name?

Thank you Chalmette, I always appreciate your kind replies.

Yes Katriona is a Scottish name, or really a Gaelic one, and it's my given name, but usually it is spelt with a "C".  My mother's choice !  She named me after that beautiful island Iona on the west coast of Scotland (Katr-Iona), telling me at one time this is where I was conceived... :-) Don't know if she was kidding me or not, but I know my parents were on holiday there the year before I was born, hehe !

Magical! Enchanting! I believe that there would be far fewer insomiacs if everyone could visit a dreamland as peaceful and magnificent as the one that you visit.

Pleasant dreams!

Thank you for giving me the background on your name Katriona. It's beautiful. And so is your country. I am intensely in love with the British Isles.

And your name is definitely better than my name, "Backseat".
lol

j/k

Take care.
