we were just side roads, before the sun was up
where you can still see around the bend into dark
but feel the new eye day walking barefoot
before the earth gets as warm as alive is

our talk was small enough, for pockets to carry
little words and minor sized laughing
could be bread crumbs to follow back here someday
if we ever lose the reason we left our highways

we held hands before they made shadows on the ground
so they would have enough time to seem natural
before we saw ourselves this way the first time
and then we looked at each other's eyes wondering

why we had never been down this road before
since we both had spent so many nights looking
out of the windows next to another's back door
that just seemed to open now to always been here

with only our footprints on it's shoulders

Again I experience this total impact of your poem, not just a line or two that stand out.
No, you maintain intensity so high from beginning to end that its beauty becomes like a warm cloak to shiver within.

Love,
Margherita
