yes, this is fitting…

you did come bumbling by
curious yellow~jacket
to my wilting wildflower
humming, hovering
sipping, sampling
savoring the taste
i know it is true
for you lingered
lilted and stayed
but as the setting sun
turned my petalled hood
you flitted far away

like i knew you would

~to thank her i’ve written the following in her honor:
  haiku

     yellow~jackets buzz
   around wounded wildflower
      all due to nature

senryu (hybrid)

     yellow~jackets buzz
   around wounded wildflower
      it’s human nature

Yo dear Brneyedgrly,

This is a lovely poem.

However, bees, yellow-jackets, hornets, etc. never fly at night.  They need the sun to navigate.  They will crawl at night, and sting anything they touch.

Love Bobby, the old bee keeper

~thanks, dear bobby...

i did not know that...thanks

perhaps the setting sun is what made my bee fly away...or maybe you should read more into it?

anyway...thanks for the lessons on bees

Wow, dear Shellie, you got that so right! A wonderful little gem, the imagery is perfect and the timing of the buzzing too, given the circumstances.

And you knew, as I knew. Busy bees indeed. I learned a lot of words here ... bumbling, lilting, flitting etc. It's so nice when we inspire each other.

Thank you so much for the haiku, which is perfect in both versions.

Love and a hug.

Brown-eyed Beauty, you took our beloved Margheria's nectar offering and turned it into liquid gold poetry with this honey of a post!

~did any of you fine ladies (excluding bobby, of course) notice that these blue pages are free of bees? lol

it made me think of this:

     bees fly in daylight
  unless they are bee-ing watched
     no buzz to be heard
