                 What If

What if I had my life to live over
I wonder if I’d do the same things again
Especially if I knew what I now know
No, I think from that pathway I would refrain.

It would be a much different pathway I’d follow.
For I’d know all the pitfalls to elude
Perhaps I’d become a property investor
Or a share trader might be the pathway pursued.

For a good education I’d go off to Uni’
To study hard and make a success of my life
I’d steer clear of all the backbreaking work
But I’d still take my wife as my wife.

Of course if I did have my life to live over
And the pathway to success I wished to climb
I dare say that I’d do the same things again
For you do what you think is right at the time.

But then I think, what if I had won Tatts-lotto
Say back about twenty-five years ago
Perhaps I wouldn’t be in a wheelchair today
And maybe a different pathway I’d hoe.

But then I think of all my many blessings,
My keen memory to me is number one,
Also to have a very broad sense of humour
So I think my battle is more than half won?

The very fact that I have a large loving family
Who all help ease the pressures of life?
Yes every day I count all my blessings
Number one being my wonderful wife.

Lindsay - my friend, you are a most special person. Loved this poem, and I wonder what changes I would have made in life.

I did rework 'Wef', hope you like it...

Lindsay, my dear, dear friend, this was warm, charming and open. All that you have experienced in life has led to the creation of the wonderful man you are.

Norma has shared much of that journey with you. I love and admire both of you!

In my books, even though you are confined to a wheelchair, you are taller than most men standing on both legs! Height is not the measure of the man! Mind you, I do believe that when you were standing on two legs you towered over most men physically!

Love you!

Yeah, the What Ifs… but,
Of all of the things that have happened
and all that has changed,
I, too, am so thankful
for my wife that has kept me sane.

Thanks,
Melton

Loved your reflections here, dear Lindsay, and your conclusion is very moving really.

... yeah the backbreaking work makes weary, but your gratitude now for what was and is, brings healing.

Love,

To all my wonderful friends, Bill, Linda, Roniece, 2dalimit, Yoinn, MinSW, Rick, Margherita and Brneyedgrly, just to say

thanks seems rather inadeqate for such a wonderful response. To have such great

poets as yourselves to make such glowing comments has really made my day. God bless

you all and may the sun shine upon you always. Love you all.

Yo Lindsay,

I'm with you brother.  I wouldn't change a thing either.

This is a very good poem, I like it a lot, and agree with it.

Funny,at work on Fri. we were talking about what we would change in our lives if we could go back. My hubby is one thing I would not change.  Once you find a good partner cherish and keep them forever.  Loved your writing. Thanks.

Oh I am betting if she read this you are in for a treat!  Funny, if I had it to do over again, I would change things too, but do way less, as in the end, it was just a path to get to this point anyway if I worked hard or not.   A woman's logic sometimes is questionable I know.

LindsayP, I use to ask myself that questiong all the time. I know what I would do, if I had known then what I know now. Yep, I would do so many things different. But still, there are some things I would do the very same way. Life doesn't always
turn out the way we plan it. Does it?

Your wife is so lucky to have a man like you.

Lindsa,  I remember reading this, and thought I had left you a note, But then recalled I was called away before I did so here I am again,  (Thanks Steven for pulling this back up)

Wow, This is truly a keeper and one to share,  So many simple truths and sincere heartfelt feelings.

Love this one.
Tracey.

A very sincere thank you to all my valued friends at PIP for the very generous response that you have all given me. To Bobby, Faeriemythc, Sonofgloin, Mysteria,
Ida, Rose, Steave, Tracey and Linda.
It's having friends like you wonderful people that really brightens my day as well as brightening up my life. A special thank you to Steave for reserecting my poem. I changed internet server a couple of weeks ago and have had nothing but trouble ever since. I have been unable to send or recieve emails and it has had me very frustrated. I lost my complete address book off the computer, so I would appreciate it very much if you good friends who swap emails with me, will send me an email so I can reinstate your address in my address book. my new email address is
ptwilson@tpg.com.au
I love all you wonderful people and may the sun shine upon you every day of your lives.  Take care.
