      sorrows and time

How can there be so many
cavernous sorrows
for the wayward spirit
mid such a short life
on this indifferent world
of unrequited loves,
abandoned dreams,
and wind-blown memories…
lost to the whirlpool of
  relentless time?

             --- b. e. adams (6/27/2009)

"tis my grief that I am of the race of the poets;
It would be better for me to be a high rock,
Or a stone or a tree or an herb or a flower
Or anything at all but the thing that I am!"

What do you know of the suffering of trees or a herb or a flower or even a rock? Just a thought that came to mind by reading the poem that inspired you ...

Dear Bruce, this is one of those beautiful melancholic writes that your sensitive soul gives birth to and I love it. You know the depth of sorrow, but you know the heights of joy too, even if sometimes you might feel as if you knew them only as a memory. In this day you will find everything.

Love,
Margherita

Short poetry with tons of thought. My favorite kind of read.

Good work

Bruce, you truly do have the sensitive, philosophical, soul of a poet. This poem resonates with how I have felt ~ and thought ~ at times. Fortunately, the weather changes from brooding gray days into ones of brilliant sunshine where I'm in love and it seems everyone around be is in love as well!

Wrapping you in sunshine and flowers,

Linda
P.S. You're one heckuvva fine poet!
