I remember days by the lakeshore
Your eyes reflecting the restless waves
Haunted was I like never before
Much do I try to remember those days

Only memories though, and little comfort
Not your arms or their tight embrace
And the further I get from it,
The more lines fade from your face

I am left grasping at the empty air
And even that blows away
On the cold wind now there
When I think of those days

My loss is written in tears suppressed
And heard in every single song
Even happiness can depress,
Knowing you are forever gone

CG, you've tugged the heartstrings once again.
And dearest Ralph...it seems you and Jerry may have more than just good poetic style in common. You both write of love and feelings with deep passion.

Aww! Thats kind of sad and bittersweet all at the same time. Losing someone even if not in death is a hard thing to deal with. I hope that if you have lost someone that you have been able to deal with it through writing this wonderful poem. Take care now!

Heartfelt words of loss, immensely beautifully written.

This was quite the emotional read. Beauty in loss is a bitter sweet irony. Thank you for sharing your soul with us.
