The breeze that lives all things
Dances the lone tree where I sit
Shaded from the hot desert sun
Yonder, a dog walks at the edge of an oasis
Thirsty, fagged out, afraid

In yapping prayer it begs
As it were, for the incoming
Dust storm to blind it
So it may finally quench its thirst
There, in the well guarded pool
Of delectable nectar

Above me, I hear the breezy laughter
Of the lone tree, as it draws the
Ponded ambrosia through its roots
Unseen, deep in meditated bliss

The moment of awakening is at hand
As the now desperate dog gazes
Once more, into the well defended pond
Tail dragging between its legs, dying

The keeper at the gate awaits
Fangs at the ready
But it's too late
The desperate canine faces the keeper
Howls, and dives in
The lone tree uproots, and fades into oblivion
While I'm left quenched, awake, Free at last!

Enjoyed the oneiric imagery. This is very well done.

Love,
