LACE BUNTING

Lace Bunting was always her favorite.
Like snowflakes sewn edge to edge
it lined the sleeves, the neck of her blouse,
cuffs of her jeans, and would, if she could,
outline my heart in cherry hue.
But that was before she left,
while passion still stained her cheeks beet red;
now all I have is a bower of discarded
gifts from me, things I gave her
that she didn’t need anymore -
a soul shriveled and dried like jerky fresh from the fire,
so much lettuce and tomato, sliced and diced,
then thrown in the trash.

Jimmy,

I love that you are doing the challenges/assignments.  This one made me smile - first because I saw your name and second because the poetry called for a smile.

Who am I to ignore the call of a poem?

Thanks for the comments (as always) folks...
Alas, I failed the assignment though...read the instructions but didn't 'hear' what they said.

Even so...it was fun.

I enjoyed your well written Poem Jimmy
Although it was rather sad, I sincerely

hope you have better luck next time, but there again perhaps it was only a poem,
I hope so. Take care my friend.
