I want to feel my ocean surge,
wash away my dreams' edge
as sea birds scream their haunting,
in each morning's newborn light
I long to have the wind take me clean;
I haven't felt the sun's heat
in decades mean of every night;
I don't bother washing blood away,
burned in feeling here to stay,
forever has no meaning
if endurance is a place each day,
in bright blue cold awareness
it doesn't matter to me anyway;
I'd thought eternity a place to play,
I'd trade ever for a single day
when night had yet to beckon;
even a Pythian savant knows without asking
no truth survives honesty
bent beyond belief,
so I don't wash the blood away.

This just cuts to the bone, Mr. Ice. What can I say?

Melancholy has such a grip on you, on us, sometimes, by letting us see and feel the most painful events of our lives again and again.

Your outstanding, impressive poem reaches true heights of psychic expression, emotions are shared by the reader.

I believe we have the power to realize that we are not our past, that we are newborn every new day, that we have a right to feel the warmth of the sun and a right to soar in clear skies. They say forever will be experienced the way we see it ... may you paint it in bright colors and play joyfully, while inhaling the now. The rotten, corrupt air we breathe is constantly filtered and purified by love and forgiveness.

I just wanted to sit with you for a while, dear Charlie, POET!

Love,
Margherita

"no truth survives honesty
bent beyond belief,"
Profound thoughts run throughout this piece, but the above lines really stand out.

Those lines Kacy and Martie liked are "killer" for sure.....but I also liked:
"I'd trade ever for a single day
when night had yet to beckon"

I think I would too, Mr. C.  *hugs*.....jo

forever has no meaning
if endurance is a place each day,

Those words suit me today.

I like the same lines others quoted above as well, but I always did wonder if an ultimate reality (truth) is beyond the grasp of our mere mortal perspective, however honest we strive to be, we do err...and perhaps that blind eye is a tender mercy. But I babble.

You're terrific, yanno.
