There are many things that make me glad,
Like the hearty laughter of a little lad.
The frolicking awkwardness of a puppy at play,
And the glow of sunshine at the start of a day.

To see grass and flowers covered with dew,
Mountainous white clouds in a sky of blue,
A walk on a pillow of new fallen snow,
Soft falling rain that makes flowers grow.

For my children to grow strong and tall,
The good times past that I recall,
Sitting quietly alone remembering past joys,
and "Hi Granddaddy" from three fine boys.

It's Father's Day again,
I celebrate for naught,
Though my kids will celebrate,
My dad's but just a thought.

I miss that man most every day,
My mother too is gone,
They loved so much and supported me,
Whether right or wrong.

For those of you that have your dad,
Cherish him each day,
The days are long, the years are short,
Soon he'll go away....

Yes, the missing is forever, like our memories, they go on and on and on.

I miss my Dad too.

Happy Father's Day to you, Toerag.

Ah your true colors are showing, and you wear them well.  Happy Father's Day you old reprobate (and I know you are anything but that!)

Ah, you've put tears in my eyes from reading this lovely tribute to Father's Day.  And so much truth in your delightful words.  A tread to read this evening.  Happy Father's Day Sunday:-)

Beautiful poem, wise advice... the missing never stops, does it? *S*

But for all the gray hairs you undoubtedly gave your parents, you gave even more joy... and I wish joy for you, my friend... every day of every year.

Toe, you're mostly known for your witty, charming, and downright hysterical poetry, but you also write some of the most profoundly beautiful and heart-warming poetry that can bring tears to the eyes. This, my friend, is one of them. I've missed you and all your different 'faces'.

My father was a dangerous and violent person.  His life was very sad.  He never did anything to hurt me.
