~ Sunset serenity ~

Here is tranquillity; the lazy tides that rise
In shallow strides that scarcely find their way
Beyond the green, the deeper blue, that lies
Where dolphins bask and play all day.

From the still bay daytime slowly drains
Steel-grey the water, darker grey the hills
Above, one bright and smoky band remains
That smoulders in a curdled sky and fills
The tidal bowl with peaches soon to fade
Before darkness and advancing shade.

I look and absorb, because the sun will set
Never exactly as tonight
And I shall grow older and forget
Such moments will be lost like tears in rain
Never to appear the same again...

ARH, this is Scotland, and the air on the western isles is so pure and clean and sweet, we get the most fantastic sunrises and sunsets to inspire a few hearts I would think.  Thank you !

fine imagery (both poetic and photographic)

[and, in my humble opinion, there is
absolutely no place in the world more
  beautiful than Scotland ... particularly
  Glencoe and the Trossachs/Na Trosaichean!]

sustained applause for this 'penning' !!

Well I think it is inspiring mine already, and I think Scotland is a magical place...

I can imagine myself being inspired to paint and write, I would love to visit the castles, and have a cottage by the sea, just to write and go out in the mornings seeing the sunrise, sunset.

The music would inspire me as well, all of it, the countrysides, the traditions.....

sorry you just got me getting carried away here....lol

Enjoy Your Poetry~

I've been thinking about which one I prefer, the sunrise, or the sunset.

Definitely the latter, for me.

When the sun sets, I exhale.

Sunrise? I think I'm still programmed from my younger days--shaking my head--it's a cringe moment to open the door of a pub and find a new day has started while one is still clocked in "yesterday".

Thank you for this one, as it demonstrates that serenity can, does, and will "blaze".

Just exquisite in presentation, and poetry.  I think you could be a travel agent for Scotland easily enough.

Serenity, been wondering about the same myself, but I love both sunset and sunrise just as much, cannot choose.  The colours of sunrise can sometimes be just as intense, especially if there's bad weather brewing:-)  Thanks for the read.

Mysteria, funny you should say that because I have in fact been contacted by the Scottish Tourist Board and I am thinking of picking up on their request to write something for them about the Scottish isles.  Thanks for lovely comment.
