    I see, I *feel*, your hills, your skies; the nest
Where some young sportive eagle flaunts his wings;
A glorious citadel of stone that clings
    To cloudless heights, and bares its prideful breast
    Athwart the sea. My tired heart finds rest
In sounds of darling maids whose gathering sings
The grandeur that was Once -- whose laughter brings
    To Man - a vision, as of valleys blest

    With spirits, priestly robes, and flowers strewn;
And then I look -- I wake! -- and all has fell;
The ebb and murmur of the slow-swelled tide
Alone is heard in temple, glade, and dell -
Resounding - echoes like the ghost of Pride -
    A spirit yet encased in dismal ruin.

I LOVE this, I would love to go back to Greece and rewrite a ruinous tale into an epic of triumph
