Let me tell you about her face:
The first thing seen in impressions,
in essence, nothing but a mask.
It’s not an ugly face; just worn.
Referred to as pretty, striking,
even beautiful before…
Perhaps still, at a glance
until a more lingering look
or sunlight reveals
what make-up can’t conceal.

Let me tell you about this face:
Scarred battlefield imposed
upon war map lines
of my private Vietnam;
another battle never won.
Every hurt documented,
a permanent part,
each a Badge of Courage
with one Purple Heart.

Let me tell you about my face:
I’ve no choice but to wear the pain,
carry it around all day.
But it is an interesting face;
it tells quite a story.
Still pretty maybe
in the dimmed light of love.
Yes…take a close look at this face
revealing what lies underneath.

At the very least
it is an honest face.

I think cho face is awful purty.

I will buy you a rum and coke

if you come to Minnesota.

Yo dear Brneyedgrly,

The face looks fine to me.  It's a little younger than the face of my oldest daughter who will be 50 this August.  She's a brown eyed beauty too.

It's a good poem too, I like it.

Love Bobby

~this poem is written from the point of view of the eighteen year old that lives inside us all and how one day you look in the mirror and wonder what the heck happened : )

Dear Brneyedgrly, do not sell your self short my friend. It is a very pleasant face

with a sense of character that is very pleasing to the eye. Stand tall dear lady and be pleased with what you have. Love

Lindsay
