When my son was little, I used to hold him and rock him while singing "Your Song"  As he grew older, we found he had a great voice, so his music teacher arranged Your Song in his key.  He did great, his picture was in five area newspapers.

Now, he has been a police officer for 12 years...he signed on with DynCorp, a company who subcontracts work from the Government.  He is presently in training in VA, and is leaving for Afghanistan on Sat. to teach police tactics.

For those of you who know about the problem, we have been on very good terms now for a few months...praise God!

Please pray for him....

I'll shut up now

"Your Song for David"

fingerprints of left over nightfall?

have you heard the birdsong

"cradle the child"

a lifetime of joy, fears & shadows
one night dreams become

mysteries
crashing through tomorrows
fair wells and journeys home

I cling to purple mist
and unto
the entrance of hours

waiting
     waiting
          waiting

sky flashes with some voice
that scratches and aches
yet does not regret

I was born by you
sacred and profane
directing you here

from the fragrance of
embers and gardenias
of secrets
which life only knows

do you still discern
how to draw rhymes of colors?
breaths of springtime songs?

"your room is very bright"
with
sun warmth and whispers

believe...

          Believe....

your sea a fragile beauty
of living things that tell

footsteps in the night
recognize familiar voice
your still warm child's voice
which you've pasted to my heart

but for your words of silence
I smell that monster judge
souls torn unintended
but still...
          still

horizons submit

flickering silvers and golden hues
looking after you
with your very own
Claire de lune

live
live through experience
is all one can do

ohhhh...
if I were a Sculptor
but then again NO!

You have been missed Miss Lee, my heart goes out to you and your son, as a singer myself I know how hard it is sometimes,
my prayers are with you both...your poem is very touching, as always!

Touching.

I love how you write and I am so happy to see you here, LeeJ.
You bring so much to these blue pages with your eloquent poetry in motion.
This poem reminded me of a book I used to read to my children....
that repeated the phrase; "as long as you're/I'm living my baby you'll be"

God Bless you and yours, dear heart~

Lee J, it's so good to know the bond has been strengthened. He leaves knowing your heart is always with him, wherever he goes.
May his song comfort and protect both of you.

Many heartfelt thanks to all of you who have not only taken the time to read and comment, but to send up prayers for my son's well being...you are truly amazing poets...all of you...and I am humbled by your compassion and kindness  No matter how old our children become, they are and always will be the best part of our days and lives.

Love you

Lee, a more beautiful song has n'er been sung by a mother for her son.

Tears are welling in my eyes.

My thoughts and prayers will be with him until his safe return home. All will be well.

God bless you both,

Your friend,
Linda
