So solemn is the chore
of

a rusty iron
shovel

beheading bluebell
perianths

and digging rectangular
holes

revision: changed "petals" to "perianths."

You know what?
.... this struck me.
I think it's quite brilliant. You managed to convey such intensity in so few words.
Thank you!

Dear Marc-André, though of course I am sorry for the beheaded blue bell flowers, I must admit that the poem is striking.

I had never read "The Red Wheel Barrow". Thank you for mentioning it. You absorbed the style perfectly.

Love,
Margherita

The Red Wheelbarrow is the first of William Carlos Williams' poems that I ever read, and in spite of loving so many more of his, it remains my favourite of all of his that I have read.

Enjoyed this very much.  You have captured his minimalistic and very visual style.  Like Margherita, I mourn the death of the bluebells, though.

Playing.with.crayons, thanks for reading. I’m glad you like it.

Margherita, thanks for reading and for the wonderful compliment.

Owl, I’m flattered to hear that this has the approval of a William Carlos Williams’ fan.
