"Past 187"

I want to
rid myself
of a past I rue
Define it and put it on a shelf

Some back cupboard
in the cobwebs
of remembrance
my cowardice

and insecurities
lie and fester
In a place
known as disaster

Deep inside
my soul
penetrating
my beings whole

it is the blight
in the base of my brain
it is the fright
and all the pain

The black tendrils
scrawling across
the motes and landfills
inside my head's dross

Nothing to see
everything to fear
never can flee
myself in the mirror

who do I turn to
with whom do I speak
of the unspeakable fool
eating pure thoughts as treats

and replacing them
with nightmares
and tremors
and hate

It's my visage
that only I see
It is the vampire
who reflects

I know not where
to direct
this feeling of despair
waiting to reconnect

with who I know
Who I wish
who I crave
to be

There is light
at the start of the tunnel
at the end of you're flight
No mention of the darkness

betwixt the two
abstract as Picasso
and dark as matter
crazy as fiasco

It's a place we
must go
to know
how to be free

of the darkness
within you and me
Rid the sharpness
of life's tolls and fees

A quarter for
your time
and a dollar for
your soul

More like
your soul
for a dream
of mountains of coal

black as can be
dirty
hard
valuable

just as
the bullshit
we must march through
to become diamonds ourselves

Finally when the light
is seen through the cloth
of destiny
we see what has really been wrought

A being capable
of all manner of things
great and evil
and unsteady as the sea

as long as we
except our imperfections
we can be
the complete human dissection

of god and human
animal and plant
earth and water
time and space

to become the accomplice
to the murder
of our imperfect past
and creator of the future

where free
will reign
and glee
never feigned

to live
and love
to life
and friends

There is always
beginnings
and only ever
one end

"Regrets"

I feel as if I
am waiting
Just peering at the sky
the past is fading

The rain persists
Yet now I'm dry
It all transists
on the run on the fly

What you do effects
What you say reflects
What you touch corrects
what your body collects

It's the beginning
Which had to end
It's the winning
after the finishing bend

Time can always renew
the real you
In time you heal
those wounds will seal

It's a fresh door
with oiled hinges
Let it open to your core
let it feast like all those binges

The used
The abused
The confused
The refused

Let them eat
the light
at the end of tunnel street
fly it like a kite

Let it all float
away in the distance
and bring back a coat
Full of the winds persistence

Let it all burn
in the heat of the inner child
then voraciously learn
Like fire so wild

Be knowledgeable
learn from any mistake
Be like the watering hole
and be water for the take

Be a great cliff shelf
Like a rock
Stand on yourself
for as the earth you may take any shock

Never give in
persist till the end
Just pick up your shins
Know all this and never pretend

and life may come
and go
and pleasing some
and sometimes the crow

So just live
Live just so
so just live
Live just so

and never
Regret it.

It took a while to swim through this, but there are some interesting lines.

"Nothing to see
everything to fear
never can flee
myself in the mirror"
