Father does not know
--
She was swimming for an oasis
struggling with waves after waves.
The desert storm always tumbles
her thoughts’ relative perspectives.
She can feel the storm, inside, within;
the way she can feel the touches,
the greed and threat. She cannot tell
any friend, these chronicles
as if some secrets, are binding her
with this man, she likes to hate.

He has threatened to kill her pet,
with violence; hence, she’ll be mute,
she’ll be silent. Only night knows
her nightmares, her waking up.

Irony is; her father thinks
that this man must be his best friend.

Oh man, this is powerful and a keeper.  It's an important poem and I hope many read it and think about it.  Kushal, you write such good poetry.  Thank you for this one.

Oh, Kushal!  I gasped at the line about her pet.  If this is true, there has to be a solution, a carefully worked out Plan A with a Plan B and a Plan C in case something goes wrong with Plan A - she and her pet need to flee swiftly and with no trace and with the help of several very trustworthy friends, to a far away safe place and he needs to be taken into custody and kept away from society for life.  I am so hoping this poem is a fictional one, but somehow I believe it isn't.

Dear Ku, this is almost unbearable in its terrifying contest. And this little girl is one of so many, too many all over the world ... Though I am a forgiving person, there are situations like the one you describe with such impressive skill, that bring forth some sort of killer instinct with regard to those who do not respect the purity and innocence of a child. On second thought of course I am with Diana, there must be a way out and into re-education.
There are too many of these psychopaths. Parents must be extremely vigilant and inform their children of these risks. I admit I was like a hawk watching over my daughter ... for more than one reason.

May there be more information for parents and children on this topic, so that such traumatic events can be prevented.

Thank you, dear Ku.

Love,
Margherita
