For what is love if it's not this:
a gather of remembrances--
our families become our friends
and friends are vital, pliant strength

in the days of clouds that curse
questioning our worthiness
casting shadows of the doubt:
bequeathed as deed unto us all.

Our moment in the sun is tall
that we're allowed to celebrate
dancing as the winds in squall
form storms that won't alleviate

the pain of flesh we knew at birth
departed from us, churned to Earth--

a seed to sprout again.

"What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly."

Although uncharacteristic of your work, I love it every bit as much as your characteristic work!  And I love your quote from Richard Bach too!

I think my favourite line is

"Our moment in the sun is tall"

This is a bit different for you, Karen but I like it very much. My granddaughter's name is Leah.

Yo dear Serenity Blaze,

Thhe idea is well expressed.  I keep wanting to read:

"Our moment in the sun is all"

But, of course it's your poem.

Love Bobby

Softly, quietly...touching the screen sighing,
may she blossom forever in love's garden.

Your words convey love and true compassion, in memory of Leah. A light filled tribute.

Beautiful Karen, she would have loved this, and I know Ralph sure will.  Your heart in a garden of thoughts grows love.

though this is far more personal than I shall ever be able to fathom, I found this stanza deeply captivating:

"Our moment in the sun is tall
that we're allowed to celebrate
dancing as the winds in squall
form storms that won't alleviate"

beautiful write...thanks for sharing

The closer that life navigates
o'er mortal seas where heaven waits
I wonder at the world's birth
for as in Heaven so on earth.

In that final moment's breath
I'll reach beyond the pale of death
on reverant wing, a gentled dove
horizons, sky, the hearts I love.

... I love the heart in your lines, Karen.  Such a lovely poet you are, and I have to add, that I am addicted to Richard Bach's writings.

Love is fog of breath
surrounding yearning hand
pressed to glass in window
of slowly departing train.

our families become our friends
and friends are vital, pliant strength

True loves stay...
forever, and unconditionally...

because our friends will remember them
with us.

I know I'm late in responding to this,
but oh, it feels good to remember
wonderful people...
