A Lonely Road To Travel
~By Oklahoma Rose~

A tiny little tear drop fell
You caught it with your smile
Washing them all away
You held my hand for a while

My world revolved around you
You were the air that I breathed
When you had left me alone
It was my heart that grieved

Solitude is a lonely life
It’s hard to get through each day
Without a lover by my side, still
I manage with, what comes my way

Oh my love, where are you
Here, I wait so patiently
Life is a lonely road to travel
Alone, without you here with me

In my dreams you are there
Reaching out to me with love
Holding me ever so tenderly
Whenever life feels way too tough

But, where are you now my love
If only I could sleep forever
You would always be with me
Making life feel so much better

I read the opening lines and wondered how you could improve on such great word choices, then I read on...I loved how you brought solitude & life together as one, then I read on...and found that strong ending that introduces the reader to that illusory dream world, where life is as we dream it...and decided to read on...again...nice write

Thank you for reading and for your very kind reply to my poem, Bill! Sometimes that loneliness creeps back upon me, and just won't leave me be. More often, than not!

My dear Oklahoma Rose, that is such a sad poem that I really feel for you. My dad always used to say that apples will grow

again and I'm sure that if you keep a positive attitude you will be rewarded.
Good luck my friend.

Thankfully we have poetry. Lost love hurts, but through writing there is always community, and eventually a meaningful healing.

Ah my dear friend Sue, you've come a long way and I know it wasn't an easy one. I'm sure you'll find love again. I always enjoy how you write right from your beautiful heart, even if the words are sad.

And I really love your new photo.

Lonely roads are hard to travel down.  You write of the trek with such longing to share the trip with another.  I think that makes a really good poem

Love,

LindsayP- Thank you for reading and replying.
I am trying to keep a positive attitude.
It's not always easy.

Hatmadda- Yes, I am glad there is such a thing called poetry. If, there wasn't, I would be keeping everything bottled up inside. Lost love, indeed does hurt. And, it seems to take too long for a heart to heal.

BluesSerenade- Yes, it is! Thank you for your nice reply.

Balladeer- Thank you so much for reading and reply. I do everything I can to get past that obstacle. Hope you are feeling better.

Titia Geertman- Thank you for reading, and for you kind reply! For now, I will have to take your word for it, that there is such a thing called "Love". If there is such a thing, it seems to just pass me right on by.

poddarku- Thank you for reading and replying.

vandana- Thank you for reading and replying.

Alison- Yes, those lonely roads are hard to
travel down. Thank you for such a kind reply.

Sue, I have just resigned myself to the fact
that life  just is...and I am not waiting  for anything to come my way anymore. If it does it will be wonderful and if not, well, I will make the best of it. Once you have been through so much, some things are  just not as  important as you once thought them to be.

I understand how you go back in dreams to happier times, it's indeed one of the ingredients of the healing potion.

Poignant write, dear Sue. Yet, remember love does not pass you by. You fill your life with love every day also in your activity by caring for others.

And as for that particular relationship between two souls, you will most probably experience it again, when you lessen the grip on the past.

Love and hugs.

Dear,  Dear Rose, I know lonely.  I have been widowed more than once, and left with little kids.  When life hands you lemons you must learn to make lemon aid. You are never alone. God is just a prayer call away.

You have been given a wonderful gift, a talent for poetry, use it well and you will find a fulfilment you never imadgened.

"Nuff of my preaching.  just know that you are loved, we all care for you.

Sue,  To know loneliness, you must have known love. It is hard to know one with out the other.
I wish for you, that you find a new love that will make you forget the pains of the past and move ahead, for I believe you have so much to offer the lucky guy that finds you.

Never stop wishing, never stop wanting, and never stop believing you are worth them having to wait to find you, because when they do finaly find you, Life will be grand.

Love always,
Tracey.

this was heartwrenching...not to mention, a wonderful use of words...

darlin, if I may share with you...14 years ago, I left my husband and moved back home...it was so difficult and lonely...then, something happened...I started going out to dinner by myself, taking along a good book.  At first I had to force myself...then started taking trips on my own, week end getaways...then full vacations...flying all over by myself.  I realized, that I had to create events for myself, something to look forward to...so with my son all grown up and gone, I had to adapt to change if I wanted to continue on my path...and continue to evolve...now, I can tell you true, I don't miss having a companion in the least...and love my independence and my life.  I've never been happier, except the times raising my son and his friends...there are many beautiful memories to graft from...think positive and start creating things for yourself to look forward to...baby steps...and truly, the longer your alone, the more you get the great opportunity for self examination...you learn to love yourself, to be true to your personal beliefs...you regain your identity...and the peace and quiet is outstanding...you actually learn to commune with quiet...you can hear things you've never heard before...it is astounding...and the longer your alone the less lonely you will become, learning to enjoy the company you keep.

Big hugs...Lee J.

I guess we all have lonely roads to travel, Sue. I find them easier to travel in the company of fellow poets.
