nowhere and everywhere

I had long been
Out of steam
And was ready to alight,
Worn down to barely nothing
From the strength
It takes for flight
And to shelter,
Sometimes carry
Little one ‘neath my wing.
We were ready to rest,
Needing to nest,
Wanting to sing…

When a weather pattern
Changed the course
Of the flock
With which we flew,
And not liking the way
These new winds blew,
Little one and I
Carried on alone.
I wasn’t sure
What we would do…

Feeling discouraged,
Trying not to cry,
I turned to him and said:

I’m sorry it didn’t
Go as planned,
Sorry we don’t
Get to land,
And please don’t mind
The worry in my eyes

And that Little bird,
My precious guy, said:

I’m not worried
About you, Mom,
You’re a tough girl,
You’re doing what’s best

Then all at once
Awesome strength unfurled,
Surged through my breast.
I thanked God for Little one
And held my head high.
Then I wasn’t worried either…

Watch this tough girl fly.

Sometimes we exchange roles and the little ones are those who transmit strength.
I think this is a wonderful and very poignant write.

Can I just say that I hate to fly?

But I like your writing.

Yo dear Brneyedgrly,

Nice going Hon.  You sound like my mother so many years ago.

With a mum like you dear lady,

your little man can look forward to a happy future and so can you, good luck.
