            SEARCHING FOR LOVE

A young fellow from the outback whose chances were few
Answered an add in the paper with marriage in view.
The add said why be lonely, we’ll find you a loving wife,
One that will spoil you and treat you and love you for life.

On our books we have ladies, young lovely and fair
Who are wanting a husband, who with their life they will share.
On arriving in the city he went to the marriage brokers office
And explained that with women, he was completely a novice.

Madam taking particulars said, “I see you’ve got marriage in view
Well I’m sure that I’ve got just the right girl for you.”
In a nice room adjacent, the introduction she then made,
She said this attractive young lady has never been laid.

A look of absolute horror crossed the young fellows face,
He thought how in the hell could I this old crone embrace.
In great agitation he whispered, “I thought you said she was young,
She must be at least fifty,” and he recoiled as if stung.

“With those double visioned glasses, why she hardly can see
And as far as being lovely, well it’s certainly beyond me.
She’s certainly not youthful and the only place that she’s fair
Is on the crown of her head where she’s lost all her hair.”

In declaring his disappointment he whispered softly to Madam,
He said, “ it’s even quite hard to tell if it’s an Eve or an Adam.”
Quite drained of emotion as if he’d just seen a ghost,
Madam said, “ there’s no need to whisper, she’s as deaf as a post.”

Lindsay, nice tale, and in the style that is so Australian, and so loved by myself..."We'll all be rooned", cried Hanrahan....you know what I mean, your style is bush Aussie, laconic and sentimental, unashamed to show outrage and eager to deal with the unjust. Top job mate.

Yo Lindsay,

The kid's got a problem.  He's searching for love in all the wrong places.

This is so funny, my husband and I have laughed so hard. Maybe because it hit home, we are both losing our hair and he is def, age has a way of creeping up on us and we can only laugh it off.  We are not looking for love I think we already have it.

Thank you Billie for your kind response, it sounds like you are a very happy couple
and the fact that you can both laugh together is the sign of a happy marriage.
A good laugh does everyone a lot of good, more than a lot of people realise. Have a happy happy day my new friends and keep smiling.
