You’ve never been in this room or even this town
So why do I see you each time I turn around?

For brief joyous moments it seems you’re within reach
But your image vanishes despite my beseech.

In the forget of dreamland, you’re sheltering me
Against uncertain times and life’s cold cruelty

Your soft breath beside me gives such comfort at night
But piercing shock of alone returns at first light

Once again I start my day achingly aware
You’ve chosen another woman, another where

You’ve never been in this room or even this town
So why do I see you each time I turn around?

Ruth,

Werewolves get silver bullet.  Vampires get wooden stakes.  Evil spirits get Holy water.  What the heck do Poltergeits get?  Free rein?

Alison: Yes. Definitely. *G*

Most of us would want to rid ourselves of the werewolves, vampires and evil spirits... thus the attempts to destroy. *G*

Images of my beloved, though... they're welcomed even if they're fleeting and miserable substitute for having him actually with me. *S* A gal takes what she can get. *S*

Not so much a Poltergeist;
Perhaps, one of those gentle memories that all Ladies cherish, and hide away; all softly wrapped, in some warm and secret place, completely off-limits to us menfolk.

Beautifully penned... as always, Milady.

We all have our ghosts don't we?
Some we are happy to see, some are not.

Memories can be ghosts also, we just need to make sure we don't let them scare us into reliving old pains.

Just remember, You have power over them, you are stronger than them, for you have spirit.

Love ya, and your poem.
Tracey.

I am glad that he is a welcome poltergeist.  If I were a poltergeist, I would follow you around too - you have a beautiful heart.  (I like lemonade and chocolate - and garlic too ~ so if you wave all in the air at the same time, I might just appear).

Windhover: That's exactly it, dear friend. *S* "Over" doesn't mean the memories are all bad... or unwelcome. *S* Thank you so much! *S*

Tracey: Thank you, my friend. *S* You're right... memories of endings are something I have to put away or drown in... but those earlier smiles can brighten an often dreary reality... I am a better person for having loved and been loved. *S*

GS: You dear. *S* Those shadows can hurt as well as help, can't they? *S* Thank you so much... it's wonderful to see you! *S*

Alison: I've got a pitcher of cold lemonade, a double chocolate cake that's to die for... and I'll whip up a garlic-laden entree... you get to choose. *S* Waving... Waving... When can you get here? *S* Love you! *S*

Awesome beginning suthern. And the way you bring it back at the end. I really truly enjoyed this.

I am sorry that such a beautiful poem is born of such pain, Suthern.

Yo dear Suthern,

I'm sorry to hear that you are bothered in this way.

I'm sure that a "real one" will come your way soon.

suthern,

How did I miss this?  You write your heart out, Lady!  A perfect title for a perfect  poem!   Too often those Poltergeists haunt us, don't they?  They used to say my mother's house WAS haunted.  I don't believe it!  But now, occasionally, I wake up in the middle of the night at my own home, and I feel the Poltergeist feeling you so aptly describe.   Does garlic work with a Poltergeist, I wonder!  Oh, good try, Cathy.

Sending you warmest wishes with a great big smile and rocking hug!

luv ya,
misce'

At first when I saw the title of this poem, I thought it would be a scarey poem. But its not and that is very welcome to me. Like everyone I have my own poltergeists. It seems that sometimes when we think we are alone we never truely are. Nicely done!

i turely admire the way you speak of someone who was there but is not there.. as if the someone was in your life, and it became something so cherished that once it left, you still remember the good.. almost as if it were just a fantasy that actually happened..

You see him because, I believe, that there is a part of energy, thought-forms, essence... that is truly there.

If your desire is strong enough, you may some day be able to manifest his body there as well.

Love to you, Suthern One,

Linda

Memories of a beloved and lost person can seem like a phantom and we feel them around. Very moving poem.
