Splayed across the landscape of his indifference,

Her compass has no bearing

in this unfrequented place

where whispers aren’t the only music

and the scent of hunger drifts on blue winds,

while biological clocks unwind.

An animal lost on the mesas, with no past or future

he is sovereign ruler over the fragrant heat

of pinyon fires and vestal virgins.

Melting all boundaries of separateness.

Indigo, very much enjoyed your thoughts here, especially this

"where whispers aren’t the only music

and the scent of hunger drifts on blue winds"

Nicely done, says so much with so few words. As always ma'am, a pleasure to read you.  ~D

D-
Textures can be smooth or rough depending on where you touch... how about making it a little harder by using a blindfold?

Gentle Spirit -
Thank you for sharing your favorite lines. I appreciate you stopping by.

This seems like something I would see etched in the soft red sandstone clifs of the Indian lands of the southwest.

Very deep.

Your writing captures so much, and glides so gracefully across these pages.

It's so good to see your poems again...

this...

quote:
where whispers aren’t the only music

and the scent of hunger drifts on blue winds,

is beautiful!

steavenr stole my quote!!
don't care, gonna write it anyway

"he is sovereign ruler over the fragrant heat

of pinyon fires and vestal virgins."

I adored this poem. BTW the reason I opened it in the first place is cause the title reminded me of Buffy- it was Xander's undercover nickname!!
If you have no idea what I'm talking about... well don't worry it's a common occurrence.

-love and laughter,
Cheye
