One More from the "Love Affair that didn't quite make it" series.

In the lonely midnight hour, they say all cats... and thoughts, are grey;
it doesn't matter what our hopes and dreams were; they are all lost now.
The memories persist... dead petals swirling in confused array
blowing through my mind again, as I sit here, and wonder how

it came to this;
this Supernova once shared... but now, ice-encased;
our shooting star burnt out and tumbled; cindered in the blackest hole
of recognising "We're all through,"
plain read, deep in the frozen wastes
of your impassive gaze;
The grey thoughts creep and wend, and take their toll.

There is no point to curse the bed we made; to walk the line so fine
t'wixt love and hate; I must take care...
for such a web here, I could weave;
I must look towards the dawn; tomorrow perhaps, the sun may shine;
there was no-one to hear, or care if I cried,
when I stood, and watched you leave.

But, if I always look behind me; then all that I shall ever see
is... the shadow of our past;
soft slinking...
trailing, furtively.

Nicely done, poet.
Grey has a way of setting the tone sometimes...or perhaps, the tone/setting brings the grey into sharp focus.

so sad....I think that is the saddest love ever, to met the love of your life and never be together, just like Jack and Rose from the titanic....or to love someone so deeply and they never love back.....the ghost of what might have been, always haunts you...

I loved this best when I read it out loud. Very beautiful.

as always, VERY well written!

blowing through my mind again, as I sit here, and wonder how

... well, that about 'sums up' my (alleged) 'life' rather effectively!

MUCH (sustained) applause for this 'penning' !!

One can feel the loneliness and despair in the "grey" and yet beautiful poem.

You need a hug.  As most of us do. But my dear, you are never alone.  "Seek and ye shall find." God is always near. Here is a hug from me.

That pain and sadness can create such beauty as this poem, is one of the many little miracles that we miss along the way.  I particularly love the first line.  I am sorry that you are feeling so sad.

when I stood, and watched you leave.

The loneliness and regrets wrap around me like a mist as I read... and shiver my own regrets.

Stunning write!
