Through mist of fond remembrance flows
some half forgotten phrase,
to conjure from oblivion
a scene from former days.
Wherein, my friend, our paths did cross
upon these pages, blue.
Excuse me for my memory loss,
what was it we called you?
So many names have come and gone,
each one most surely missed,
by far too many I'm afraid
for one as I to list.
But here I would just like to say
that each has left their mark
unique, in that one never knows
what visions they might spark.
An inspiration manifest
inscribed upon the heart,
regardless of the circumstance
that caused them to depart.
Each carries what we can, my friend,
until our time is through,
a burden that much lighter
having known one such as you.

I feel this way so often,  I have not been here yet a year, still I have enjoyed so many wonderful poets works.

I write for my own enjoyment, but am so pleased when someone else likes what I have to say.

I love what you have said, and will look for you more.

Tracey.

Midnitesun,
Thank you, I have been priveledged to have been here these years, with hopes, many more. Many poets have moved on from here, those I have known are all missed, as well as some who are here that my reclusive style prevents me from interacting with as much as I'd like. So be it, a tribute to you all.
Doc

Tracey,
Thank you. To write for one's own enjoyment
must be a prerequesite for being a poet, lol, it sure isn't the money or the fame.

How very beautiful! *S* There are many I miss... some who left by choice, some who were detoured by circumstance... and still others who now pen for heaven's pleasure. *S* Each did indeed leave their mark...

I am reminded of that old saying:

"Of all the things in life I miss, I miss my mind the most."

Seriously, though perhaps not too seriously, this write makes one stop and remember...and that is surely a good thing...it makes me remember all those from whom I have drawn inspiration (simply by reading their fine poetry) and wonder where they are sometimes...then again, I suppose life happens to us all while we're busy writing... thank you for the nice write

i am very new here..but this i believe is true in all of our practical lives...people come and people go...but only a few can leave their footprints in your heart..and i beleive this poem has left one..

steavenr,
Lol, I know that feeling, thanks.
Doc

MinSW,
Thank you very much, it is not often my works are referred to as "brilliant", you obviously have very refined tastes, lol.
Doc

Ida,
Thank you, it is hard to have read these people and not realise how influential
those contacts have been. They do leave a mark.
