Another little sigh from the unrequited love series.
(Not autobiographical!)

Where have you gone? Why do you not answer me?
Has our love faded, before came the time
of full blooming?
Were all our soft, whispered words really just words?
was our promise a little white lie?
I cannot believe this was all that that we shared;
but now... all I see, when l call, is "Off-Line."
"Off-Line," and the icy hand touches my heart...
and in the touching, my heart gives a sigh.

Was it something I said... or did not say, that changed us?
Did you think I had some hidden design?
I opened my heart to you, fell in love with you...
wanted you with me, 'till the day l would die.
But now, when I try to reach out with my words of love...
there, staring at me... the dread word,"Off-Line."
"Off-Line"...
and a little bit more of me slowly dies...
wondering, and worrying; not knowing why.

Perhaps, you have had second thoughts...
or perhaps, you have met someone else, with whom, your heart entwines.
A promise of more than I ever could give you... for, in all honesty, I can't deny
all I can offer is my heart, forever...
my promise to you before you went "Off-Line."
"Off-Line"... yet again... that word, simple... but deadly;
and, as I gaze at it... my heart softly cries.

All I have left is the memory of you, and memories of dreams we shared...
not much to show:
a scant epitaph for the hopes that we  shared, my love;
"Off-Line" perhaps...
but, I still love you so.

Off the line and in the poem. I enjoyed this, but I do not enjoy unrequited love.

only in today's world
does 'off-line' capture
an age-old reality

unrequited love....
remains a cornerstone
of 'romantic'
prose and poetry

I loved it!

My unrequited love has become my muse...so much written about him!

You know the human heart so well~

You write words, feelings and emotions as I would wish to explain them.

~Nice to read you!

I could lose myself in the poignancy of your words even if they didn't resonate as memories... Unrequited love hollows a person out until the emptiness echoes... and you've captured that ache so well! *S* Wonderful write!
