When day gives way to darkness,
time stands still
if only for a moment,

to allow one to reflect
on the gifts received
since sunrise,

to accept the passage
of all that was,
and ponder what might yet be.

Greet the sunrise
with open arms and mind.

Embrace whatever life offers,
breathe it in deeply.

It is that which hides from us that makes today a better day!! Seek and one shall find ....

As bright and shining as any sunrise I have seen (definitely seen my share!)  : )

Great sentiments.
If its ok with you, I'll sleep in though, and greet the sunset with double enthusiasm.

most wise advice ... fine 'write' !

I am especially fond of the beginning:

"When day gives way to darkness,
  time stands still

sustained applause for this 'penning' !!

Craig, me too. I 'catch' as many sunrises and sunsets as possible.

DS, love your keen perspective, your insight, point of view.

CG, OK, sunsets for you then, rosey-orange and maroon.

secondhand, I attempt to partake equally of sunrise and sunset. At each changeover I breathe in the moment where time stands 'respectfully' still.
It's far more difficult to catch the sunset when it falls behind a neighbor's garage in lieu of the ocean.

Donna! lady, you've sure been missed around here! Glad to have a visit from you, sunrise, sunset or mid-day or midnight!

Welp Kacy, I don't get in as much as I'd like to and at this point am just feeling blessed that I CAN still get in when time allows and my umm...'free' internet connection lets me, but on those special occasions when I do, I immediately seek out my fav poets...

thus, I am here.   Wink.  Need I say more??  lol.   HUGS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Your title, and replies reminded me of that scene from Boogie Nights, where a certain couple fell in love because they both preferred the same. I can't remember which one it was though. I was distracted by my own thoughts at the time:

"Sunrise or sunset?" Hell, I just wonder what time of day it is, and how far am I from home...

Like you, though, I've been known to opt for both!

Love ya darlin'.

Kacy,

This is true beauty.  You know that I am a sunset/sunrise type person and I love how you honor both with your poem.

Kacy, this is absolutely beautiful. I love the sunset and the sunrise. Although, I admit, I don't get up any earlier than I have to. LOL! But, more times than now, I am up when the sun rises.

great words, great advice...but I must confess that my first reaction was to be reminded of the song from Fiddler on the Roof (since I've never seen Boogie Nights, and that probably is representative of my age & tastes)

Absolutely lovely, Kacy!  It was like a ballet, ending with you throwing your arms up to the sunrise with the sun outlining your whole body (not silhouette, as I always think of silhouettes as being nearly black against the sun - and I picture you in a flowing, sunflower-yellowy, sunrise-orangy dress) with a smile brighter than the sun!

Yann, Bill, Diana....so happy to see you smiling in here.
Diana, I rarely wear yellow or orange, favoring a blue-green or mauve/wine palette. LOL, but I once had an electric blue blouse covered with bright sunflowers. But the morning dance is familiar to me.
