Michaela was my Wife who died age 43, I try to explain the jorney home from Spain to find her in Hospital etc..

As I sit here thinking of you
I wonder what I am going to do
My love for you grew every day
I know this pain will fade away

Oh how I miss those big brown eyes
And all the time I spent by your side
Your loving smile and tender touch
Is what I miss so very much!

My journey to you was very tough
Despite my speed I still got stuck
Our boy in tow, whom I couldn’t leave
Desperate that I would not succeed

Succeed I did, with the help of others
Supported emotionally by your Brother
The final miles with sunken heart
Knowing what I’d find, when I parked

I held your hand and opened my heart
Is where I thought I ought to start
Through misted eyes I looked at you
Praying that you could see me too.

You slipped away amongst all you loved
Everyone giving you their tender love
We left your room with broken hearts
You laying there, spirit & soul departed

The sun came out when we said goodbye
And at your service, oh did we cry
Our Brucie-boy he made us laugh
This made me feel, not quite so sad

As your Husband I knew you best
Still sorely missed, but laid to rest
Your loving smile and tender touch
Is still what I miss so very much

Two months have passed, life still goes on
Imprisoned in Spain I have become
Sometime soon I will be free
But in my heart you’ll always be!!

I really liked the lines:
"Sometime soon I will be free
But in my heart you’ll always be!!"
They really moved me because to me it meant that you will be free of the pain and grief of her death but you will never forget her.

I think that your poem had a very important message.
