Second star to the right,
I'd take flight and stare-
Into the heart of the dark,
And laugh without care.

I was brighter than fire,
And my voice was loud,
Clad in the forest all
Brazen and proud.

Knife in my hand and
Dust in my hair,
Dare you not to believe
My fairy ain't there.

I'd fight the old evil,
One hand tied behind,
And crow to the lost ones
Who'd return it in kind.

Love, it is foreign,
And its sound offends,
It's lost behind glass
That my youth defends.

After many spring-cleanings
I fell under its spell,
As it chimed like a clock
With a small silver bell.

It lured and it baited,
With danger and delight,
And so quickly I followed
The call of the night.

Soon after I landed,
I forgot how to fly.
I forgot how to whistle.
And learnt how to cry.

Primped and polished
Old life bleached away,
I was told what to do,
And told what to say.

I sold out for a thimble.
I was tricked and deceived.
I was taught the old evil-
And forced to believe.

I was stripped of my knife,
And given a pen,
My hair was all combed,
(Because I had hair back then).

At first I grew taller,
Now I'm shrivelled and small,
But I'm summoned by worlds
That I can barely recall.

There's ticking within me-
Growing louder and louder,
And I hear crowing-
The sound couldn't be prouder.

I leave open my window,
Wait with uncertain glee,
For the eternal band
That's calling for me.

Then brighter than fire,
With voices so loud,
They'd flew through the window
Brazen and proud.

They'd take that old hand
The hand that once led,
They'd giggle and lead me
With a jump, out of bed.

Second star to the right,
I'd take flight and stare-
Into the heart of the dark
And laugh without care.

'I feel like an animal, and I don't think that I get it. But one day I'll see you around.'

Why, thank-you!

'I feel like an animal, and I don't think that I get it. But one day I'll see you around.'
