Purgatory

You’re a vegetarian.
You look down on all carnivores.
They’re all murderers.
But if I give you fish,
You will eat it and ask for more.
Even though you hate people who eat meat.
You bend the rules,
So you can do whatever you want.

You’re a Christian.
You look down on everyone else.
They’re all devil worshipers.
But if I ask about your cat,
You will say that she’ll go to heaven.
Even though animals supposedly have no soul.
You bend the rules,
So it can fit into your life.

You’re a good person.
You look down on all gossipers.
They’re all insane.
But if I ask about your friend,
You’ll tell me all the crap she’s done,
Even though you hate people who spread rumours.
You bend the rules,
So you can get recognition for standing by her.

You’re a nice friend.
You look down on mean friends,
They’re all ungrateful.
But if I tell you what happened,
You’ll tell me how weird and stupid I am.
Even though you hate people who are mean.
You bend the rules,
So you can put me down.

You call yourself all these labels.
Except you don’t follow any of them.
You call me a murderer because I eat meat,
But you still eat fish.
You call me a Satanist,
But you still believe some things against the bible.
You call me a gossip,
But you still spread it around too.
You call me a mean friend,
But you still put me down.

I’m not saying I’m perfect,
Because that would be a lie.
But at least I don’t brand myself,
With all those stupid classifications.
Because I believe in what I do.
So I don’t have to label it with
Useless
Labels.

Please note that I have no problem with being a vegetarian, christian ect. The point of this poem is to point out how this person bends her beliefs to suit what she wants.

And now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the lord my soul to keep. And if I die before I wake, I pray the lord my soul to take.

Eh, "Labels" are useless, and if I may be frank - they're Stupid.
Just brush it off. Enjoyed.

Strangely, I understood your position before I read the apology. So many people are such hypocrites. But the problem isn't with what is true or untrue. The problem is with people, isn't it? Alas, as long as human beings live we will always seem to cast a jaundiced eye in every direction but our own. But I always encourage the victims of double standards not to judge the truth by the people who bluster it out inequitably. Truth is inerrant. People are all messed up, hahahahah!

When I read that I know exactly what you are talking about. Labels are useless and pointless. Sometimes there is a bad egg in the dozen.
