I am horrified at the scene
The death, destruction, perversion
Knowing that it is our past
All I see is the blood

Faces fall from my mind to my eyes
Eyes that see no more
Caught fast, stick in my mind
Remember they’re not real

But the words from the dust
They speak of terrors like fiction
Devastation is not new, but refreshed
My heart quails in the power of words

Love alone fights the specters of memory
That threatens to crush my soul

Rawr!!!!! (That means "I love you" in Dinosaur)

I've read this several times, and love it! Powerfully descriptive, near-perfect flow, definitely one of your best Kate!

I am however a little scared. Is something wrong? Your title makes this quite personal I think... :-(

Perhaps you've been watching some form of History or a Documentary on Civil strife and rebellion, or war. This poem is what my own mind thinks when I see these things. Man's inhumanity to man is beyond horror, beyond hellish, and it's too much to comprehend.

wow i really love this! it's really powerful, and definately something many can relate too... were you thinking of any place or time in particular when you wrote this? because I began thinking of the holocaust... its a very versatile poem. Well done! ^_^

I have a thing for WWII. I am intrigued and disgusted all in one go.

On the black coated walls, they wrote my doom.
