Complete was I within the field of bliss,
where dwelled the shining queen I dearly miss,
who caused me with a fervent love to swell,
but failed I to display my own heart well.

Abiding in the empty land around,
for I was scarcely welcomed in the town,
in angst I longed to with her be at peace,
but I was not among her foes the least.

O for her beauty and her gentle way,
that seized my heart in ever pleasant day,
I would have with a gentle way replied,
but I would not a subject there abide.

Thus enmity did burst about the field,
and still my true intent was not revealed,
for though the want was for a lovely friend,
a sure and painful sever sealed the end.
