A soft, sharp knock
and a dull-eyed stare.
Opens the door,
but no one's there.

The howling wind
is playing games,
but nothing
sparks a flame.

An innocent child,
left all alone
with an empty hearth
and empty home.

The ice-wind knives
keeps her company
a sweet, agonizing
harmony.

Nothing is more painful than realizing he meant everything to you, but you meant nothing to him. (Unknown)
