I stand upon a hill, shouting at the top of my lungs,
“Heart, don’t cry anymore”
My plea is ignored.

I stand upon a hill, shouting to the highest of highs,
“God, please let her hear me”
My prayer is unanswered.

I stand upon a hill, shouting in the silence of night,
“Lover, don’t die on me now”.
My request is unfulfilled.

I stand upon a hill, shouting at the failure in myself,
“Hey, why couldn’t you save her?”
My mind is anguished.

I lay upon a hill, whispering in the passing breeze,
“Heart, I couldn’t save you”
My love is lost forever.

"Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortals ever dared to dream before;" -Edgar All
