I know I'm not perfect.
I'm sorry.

I know I'm not strong.
I'm sorry.

I know I'm not beautiful.
I'm sorry.

I know I'm not a genius.
I'm sorry.

I'm sorry
for all the years you
wasted on me.

I'm sorry
for all the lectures you
wasted your breath on.

I'm sorry
for all the prayers you
wasted on my success.

I'm sorry
for all the tears you
wasted to guilt trip me.

I'm sorry that I will
NEVER
be able to live your dreams
for you.

I'm sorry that I want
to live my
own dreams.

I'm sorry that I'm
better at some things
than others.

I'm sorry that I
will go and choose my
own way.

I know I'm not perfect.
I'm sorry.

And yet...
Not all that sorry.

Wow. Brings back memories of a friend who said that her parents were upset that she didn't turn out like how they wanted. She cried a long time because of that. I find that how you keep the stanza's short and sweet because it keeps the reader doing his/her job. It's a beautiful poem; and a harsh reality.
