Writers Block

The ink well has run dry
And now my mind is bare
The paper boasts blank and
I just sit and stare

Nails biting into my skin
Engraving words of wise
Tearing at my sallow flesh
To smother hopeless cries

Fists are bunched into knots
And claw at strands of sanity
Searching for that absent word
To diminish such profanity

The tears I weep are plastic
My head is filled with space
I just need a purpose to which
I can match my face

The beast that gnaws within me
Thatís ripping me from inside
Creaking through my veins
Itís screaming in my mind

Iím choking on this static
That seems to inhabit me
Guarding all my thoughts
That are begging to be free

I canít take this pressure
Thatís sitting in my head
When letting go is impossible
I bottle up instead

Iím so full of my worries
Iím drowning in myself
I am my own suffering
I cause my own ill health

The ink well has run dry
Time has stopped the clock
My mind is bare, I sit and stare
Me and my Writers Block.
